Painting Holidays and Tuition

I have been teaching since 1994 both privately and for the Adult Education Service at the Isle of Wight College. Over a number of years I have run outdoor summer classes and tuition and I also enjoy demonstrating to groups. My tuition is always geared to the individual, whether within a group setting or on an individual basis and I really enjoy seeing people develop their painting skills and their enjoyment gained from this.
Please contact me if you are visiting the Isle of Wight and would like some private watercolour classes. We have some great B&B’s, hotels and guest houses on the Isle of Wight. Contact the tourist board on Tel: 01983 813813 www.islandbreaks.co.uk or alternatively visit www.isleofwighttouristguide.com

Painting Water in Watercolour

14th-18th June 2010

Learn to paint water and marine landscapes as well as rocky landscapes with Becky Samuelson who has many years experience painting specialising in water, marine, landscape and architectural painting in watercolour. All abilities welcome. Much of our time will be spent on location in the Gorge or elsewhere in the Mendips
Becky will give a demonstration on Sunday evening and each morning she will give a "tips and techniques" session in the studio and then students will go out on location mid-morning and paint, applying what you have learnt in the studio.

Becky is a very enthusiastic and energetic teacher and spends much of her time with students on a one-to-one basis giving hands on guidance. You will be sure to learn a lot from the wealth of her experience and her enthusiasm for painting and landscapes.

Becky Samuelson

Becky Samuelson has been painting professionally for twenty years and she works from her studio in St Helens on the Isle of Wight where she specialises in marine, landscape and architectural painting in watercolour, acrylic and pastel. Much of her inspiration comes from the amazing island countryside with its huge diversity and great natural light providing her with constant inspiration.

She particularly loves the use of colour and the effect of light and tries to seek out new and innovative ways of interpreting her subject. She spends as much time as possible sketching, with her preferred method as pen and wash, mainly for its immediacy and the impressionistic style that she can achieve with this. She is equally at home painting the various classes of sailing boats in the Solent as she is with beach and landscape scenes. Her work has been exhibited in major galleries both on and off the Island.
Becky has been a regular contributor to the Leisure Painter magazine for a number of years; she teaches for the Adult Education Service at the Isle of Wight College and runs private outdoor summer classes and tuition.

Lyncombe Lodge Hotel is a family run business set in 230 acres of woodland with stunning views across the surrounding countryside. It is very secluded and is ideal for the painter who wants to get away from it all. It offers 14 comfortable en-suite rooms with tea and coffee making facilities and TV. The restaurant provides both an a la Carte Menu, Bar Menu and Sunday Lunch Menu offering a wide selection of fresh, quality dishes. Local amenities are a short drive from the hotel.

The Avon Ski Centre is next to the hotel and all guests can enjoy a 20% discount on all slope activities, subject to availability. Why not bring your non-painting partner who can enjoy the many action centre activities, e.g. Skiing, Archery and Climbing. See their web-site for details.
